Rhett Hissam is a new media and installation artist whose work primarily focuses on digital art using VR/AR technologies. Inspired deeply by the natural world, herbalism, and botany, Rhett’s art explores the intricate connections between humans and nature. Through her art, she strives to highlight the beauty of the natural world, aiming to inspire awe while providing education at a deeper level.

After earning a BA in Art + Design from NC State, Rhett continued her journey at the university, working as an immersive media designer in the new media development department. Her passion for blending art and technology has led her to collaborate with esteemed organizations such as the North Carolina Museum of Art and numerous municipalities across North Carolina through public art grants.

Rhett views technology as a versatile tool, capable of fostering profound change. With visualization tools like VR, AR, and 360° video, she believes it’s easier than ever to visualize our inner worlds and share them with others. These immersive media platforms have the potential to shift perspectives, inspiring environmental and social change through first-person storytelling.
