2025 - Layers of Appalachia
Dedicated to the resilience of nature and the healing of the Blue Ridge Mountains post hurricane Helene, "Layers of Appalachia" takes you on a journey inspired by the artist's time spent on trails in the Asheville area. The animation features a combination of photos scanned trails from the winter and a collection of native plants used to recreate the lush forest environment of spring.
Contrasting the aftermath of the floods with picturesque 3D scenes, this piece comments on the reality of the environment in the current day with the representation of media in the disinformation age. Intertwined with a hope for the healing cycles of nature, the light based installation serves as a reminder for the inevitable regrowth that follows a period of disruption.
